I would suggest putting several ''widgets'' along the left hand margin of this section, such as a calendar, a couple of blog excerpts, links to your blog, short news excerpts with links to the full articles, a sign-up for a department newsletter, etc. The simple calendar widget to the left is only temporary - to be replaced by one with more functions and which can be easily updated and controlled by your own staff... Picture InformationThe picture at the top of the page should be replaced - I've got an idea to discuss with you concerning that header picture; I will need to take some digital photos to create a composite image (suggestions: moving patrol cars with and without flashing lights; officers involved in various activities; other staff members performing other duties; badges; local scenery such as buildings, landscapes, etc.)
